After 41 years in business, the Schaefer family have pretty much seen it all. Good times when business was booming, and tougher years that brought Hurricanes like Katrina and Ike. Now, a man-made oil disaster is trying the Gulf Coast, and the Schaefer family is in crisis mode — again.

Nine dead as Israel storms aid ship

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli marines stormed a Turkish aid ship bound for Gaza on Monday and at least nine pro-Palestinian activists were killed, triggering a diplomatic crisis and an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council.


U.N. council has emergency session

The U.N. Security Council held an emergency meeting Monday called by Turkey on the Israeli military’s storming of a six-ship flotilla of pro-Palestinian activists headed to Gaza with aid supplies. At least nine activists died in ensuing clashes that insured seven Israeli soldiers.

Netanyahu cancels meeting with Obama

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has canceled this week’s scheduled meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama, Israeli government officials said Monday. The two leaders were slated to meet Tuesday during a visit by Netanyahu to Washington, D.C.
